Netpromote was formed in 1996, initially as a web design company, with one major difference; uniquely for the time Netpromote made websites that were designed to be completely compatible with search engines.

Search engine incompatibility was only just becoming a problem for websites, but we rapidly realised the implications both for established sites, and those yet to be developed. Netpromote quickly found that the majority of our clients didn’t necessarily need new sites; they simply needed sites that worked.

As search engine optimisation (SEO) developed as an industry, several things became apparent:

• Very few people understood the emerging technology

• Pricing was essentially confusing and often outrageously high

• Many companies exploited undesirable and unethical practices, which would eventually lead to their clients being excluded from search engines

Netpromote decided that the best approach to an emerging industry under these circumstances was to adopt a policy of transparency both to our customers and to the search engines, but critically we approached search engine optimisation as an educational business rather than a sales business.

As our services have developed in step with our industry and our approach to Internet promotion has been refined, we have retained our commitment to transparency.
